San Ramon, Contra Costa County
San Ramon became a city in 1983, after a decade of fast growth in the valley of the same name. The Iron Horse Trail runs its length on the bed of a railroad branch line abandoned in 1978, linking neighborhoods to Danville and Dublin. On the south side, Forest Home Farms preserves a 16-acre walnut farm with its original house and barns.
